Nokia Unveils Lumia 930 with Windows Phone 8.1 and 20 MP PureView Camera


Nokia has unveiled another Smartphone under its wing with a quad-core processor. The company introduced its new flagship phone – the Lumia 930.

The new device was launched at the Microsoft Build Conference and is expected to be made available for sales worldwide this June at a cost of USD 599.


Lumia 930 is powered with the 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor that is also equipped with RAM of 2 GB. It also has 32 GB of internal storage or 7 GB free One Drive cloud storage.

The smartphone runs with the Windows 8.1 operating system that includes Cortana, Microsoft’s new personal assistant.

This brand new phone also has a 5 inch clear Black OLED display that offers 1920 X 1080 pixels with full HD resolution with 441 ppi density. This device also has a stunning 20 mega pixels PureView camera at the rear along with the front camera of 1.2 mega pixel.

The company claims that this phone can shoot videos and record it using HD mode. Lumia 930 is also equipped with a 2420 mAh battery that has an in-built wireless ability for charging it. It is made up of Gorilla Glass, which would make it remain free from all kinds of scratches from the daily wear and tear.

Verizon Likely to Launch Lumia Icon on February 20th

Latest updates have ensured that Smartphones operating on Windows OS will now be equipped with top notch components.

It is the desire of many users that these flagship specs are made available to smaller phones. Here comes the Nokia Icon, a WP8 five inch device on Verizon expected to go on sale from 20th of February with a price of $ 200 on 2 year contract.

The specifications of the handset will be nearly the same as that of Lumia 1520 which will include Snapdragon 800 2.2GHz Qualcomm processor, 1080p display, 20MP rear camera along with 1.2MP front camera, Qi Wireless charging, screen of Gorilla Glass 3 and lots of other features.

The smartphone will also include a 2420mAh battery which will hopefully manage the quad-core processor and high-def screen without any problem.

The handset will be made available exclusively to Verizon which is evident from the 3 carrier-specific logos available at the back and front of the device.

Straight aluminum sides as well as matte polycarbonate curved back are some of the other features of the device. The handset is quite similar to Lumia 925 which sports same plastic back and metal sides. However, Lumia Icon is a bit thicker than the Lumia 925.

Lumia Black Update Available for Lumia 928


Lumia Black updates have been made available to quite a few Windows phone handsets under AT&T network over the last month which includes Lumia 1020, 925 and 920.

This time, the update will be made available to a CDMA device. Numerous Nokia Lumia 928 owners stated that they have been able to successfully download as well as install Lumia Black update on 11th of February.


When it comes to the rollout, no official announcements were made either by Verizon or Nokia however the support page of Lumia 928 Verizon consisted of a changelog which includes Lumia Black features like ability to shut down apps running in background and Driving Mode.

Although, the update was successfully completed by most users but, apps specific to Lumia Black like Nokia Beamer and Nokia Storyteller couldn’t be downloaded by the users. The error message states that Lumia Black update is required for the installation of these apps.

Responding to the questions from the users, Nokia stated that they will delve into the issue to see what’s wrong and come up with information as soon as possible.

Although, some may not be available but, after the installation majority of users are stating that the performance and speed of their devices have improved.

Lumia Black Update for AT&T’s Lumia 920 and Lumia 820


Good news for Nokia Lumia phone users is that the company is starting to roll out Lumia Black update for both its versions of Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 on AT&T network.

The news was shared by the company on Twitter as it announced the rolling out of the update for both the high-end versions of Lumia.


However, full change logs haven’t been posted by both the companies as yet but the improvements that are about to come can be predicted to a certain extent.

It is expected that the rolling out of the update will allow users of Lumia 920 and 820 to get access to different goodies such as Driving Mode, Nokia Glance Screen and assignment of custom ringtones for email and SMS, facility of closing running apps, screen rotation lock and several other features.

Users can check for the latest update by going to Settings Menu -> Phone update -> Check for Updates. The following steps will ensure that users have all the goodies of Lumia Black update on their devices and make the most of the features that will be introduced. However, the update will not include RAW shooting as it is only reserved for Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520 users.

Nokia’s New Android Device to be Codenamed ‘Nokia X’

But the news seems to be quiet different from the previous versions as this shows the name of the device. The leaked news and videos on the Internet show that this Android powered device might be codenamed Nokia “X”.

This device will be included in the Asha line-up and will be in the low cost range. But it has the ability to run huge number of smartphone apps, thanks to the Android software used in this device.

The leaks show that the android version used in this device looks customized and gives the impression of a mashup of Nokia Asha and Windows Phone. Nokia’s release target for this phone is going to be the last quarter of 2014 and there are chances that Nokia might unveil it in the Mobile world Congress to be held in Barcelona in the month of February.

Those planning to get hold of the new Nokia Lumia 1520 will have to wait a bit longer as Microsoft along with AT&T announced that the Phablet will be made available starting November 22.

Verizon’s Nokia Lumia 2520 will be hitting the stores on that same day as well. AT&T will be launching Lumia 2520 along with Lumia 1520 as the company prefers in launching its latest hardware on Fridays.

Lumia 1520 is likely to be coming with a price tag of $199.99 with a 2-year contact, whereas both Verizon and AT&T will be offering Lumia 2520 at $499.99.

All these reports can’t be taken for granted as of now, needs to be written in pencil only. It is very much possible that both Nokia and Microsoft are planning an “all-gun-blazing” assault on that particular day since it is also the very day when Microsoft’s Xbox One will be hitting the stores as well.

Nokia Announces Music+ Premium Music Service

Nokia has announced a first-class upgrade to its music service that adds more and better options at a price of $5.37 per month. To extract a maximum from it, users require purchasing a premium of $15.69 for monthly subscription.

The present free Lumia music service continues like before with Nokia confirming that the service will not ask for an introduction of advertising or user registration for owners of the Smartphones.

Nokia Music+ features unlimited downloads, unlimited skips, nifty lyrics, high-quality music streaming and access to a web-application.

Nokia says the Music+ will be launched in the coming weeks.  The company also says that Nokia Music is great for discovering new music, and found more users who want even more of it. By introducing features like unlimited downloads and infinite skips the company is opening the doors for unlimited music discovery at only $5.37 per month.

As of now no date is confirmed for its launch however Nokia has confirmed that it will take place by the end of March 2013.

Verizon Wireless Offering Nokia Lumia 822 4G LTE Smartphone for $0.01

Nokia has been having hard time due to the tough competition from its rivals Samsung and Apple. It has come up with a series of handsets at affordable prices keeping the view of its customers to regain its position so as to get hold on the market. Earlier, Nokia has offered its Lumia 820 for $49.99 on a two year contract.

Nokia has recently launched Lumia 822 into the market. The device offers 4G LTE connectivity and Windows Phone 8 OS. Amazon Wireless is offering Nokia Lumia 822 4G at $0.01 on a two year service contract.

Review of Nokia Lumia 920

Nokia Lumia 920, the Windows 8 phone is most popular among recent Windows phones. The device which is well known for its Pure View Camera and dedicated buttons, represents its looks in great style and has been released in different eye-catching colours.

Battery: The device has a 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery that delivers 67 hours of music playback, 17 hours of talk time for 2G, 10 hours for 3G, 6 hours of video playback. It gives 6 hours and 30 minutes of talk time which may not be spectacular but it is better than GALAXY SIII’s 5 hours and 30 minutes.

Nokia Unveils Windows 8 Phone Lumia 620 at $249

Nokia has introduced the most affordable windows 8 Phone – the Lumia 620 – on Wednesday 5th December 2012 at a price of $249. The debut has taken place in Paris and Finland.

Nokia plans to start selling the device in Asia by January 2013. Later it will be launched in Europe and Middle East. The Company says that Lumia 620 is a highly economical Smartphone at its price and is designed to give more fun for the customers. It has seven exchangeable covers in different colours to choose and is mainly aimed at young gadget freaks.
