Sony has announced the Xperia Z Ultra Wi-Fi version which was previously launched in the form of a Smartphone in the month of June, 2013.
The specifications of the device will be similar to that of its Smartphone sibling and includes some exciting features like 1080p 6.44 inch display, Snapdragon 800 Qualcomm 2.2GHz processor as well as in-built storage of 32GB along with the option of microSD card.
Apart from all these features, the Z Ultra Wi-Fi will have the same 2.2MP front camera and 8.1MP rear camera along with waterproof casing.
The phablet category has received huge popularity recently with more and more manufacturers coming up with devices that are diminishing the line between tablet and phones.
Xperia Z Ultra from Sony is undoubtedly amongst the largest handsets available in the market and with its huge display, it definitely serves the purpose of super portable tablet.
The Wi-Fi version of the handset will be launched in Japan on 24th January with a price tag of $ 499 or 52,000 yen. However, it has yet not been confirmed by the company whether the new version will be arriving at stores outside of Japan.
It’s been only a week since Motorola and HTC were seen spilling the information of their update plans for Android KitKat. Now another big player, Sony, joins them to talk about KitKat.
In its official blog, Sony announced its plans for its range of Xperia smartphones featuring Android versions 4.3 and 4.4. Firstly the Japanese major said that it plans to include 4.3 updates to quite a few of its Xperia phones.
The list includes Xperia V, Xperia TX, Xperia T, Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Xperia SP, Xperia Tablet Z, ZR, Xperia ZL and Xperia Z. It is expected that the updates will start flowing anytime next month but the company cautions that it will vary by carrier and market.
Sony revealed that its Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Xperia Tablet Z, ZL and Xperia Z will be packed with Android 4.4. But it’s still not clear when the present owners of these five products could update their devices to the latest version of Android.
There’s good news for those users as well whose devices did not make the cut to the above list. Sony said that there are possibilities of expanding the list in near future.
Within two weeks from the leak of Xperia ZR specifications, Sony has announced the launch of its new handset, Xperia ZR.
The handset comes with high water resistance level and is capable of taking full HD videos and photos underwater. Users can keep the handset submerged for nearly thirty minutes in 1.5m of fresh water. The phone comes with an HD reality display of 4.6 inches and the resolution available is 720 x 1280 pixels.
The handset includes Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.5GHz processor along with 2GB of RAM. An internal storage of 8GB is available which can be expanded up to 32GB. The 13MP camera of the Xperia ZR features 16x digital zoom along with auto focus facility.
Users will also get a front facing VGA camera. The dedicated hardware button will allow users to use the camera even when screen is locked.
NFC functionality is offered by the handset and comes with LTE 4G. This handset will allow users to make the most out of a Smartphone.
The camera technology of Sony combined with high level water resistance offers the best features and functionality according to Xperia marketing Director, Calum MacDougall. The launch of the handset will take place in the second quarter of 2013. However, there is yet no word on the pricing details.
There was a rumour doing rounds recently about a new Smartphone from Sony known as Sony Honami. However, the details were revealed recently and the new handset will be known as Sony Xperia i1 that will be available with a five inch full HD display along with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution.
The display of the handset is enhanced by Triluminos technology and includes a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor. There have even been rumours which stated that the handset will include RAM of 2GB and will be available with waterproof and dust features similar to that of Sony Xperia Z. It was even stated that this new handset from Sony will include 2,700mAh battery.
The best part about Sony Xperai i1 is the camera which will be a 20MP sensor or 16MP sensor and even include Xenon flash. It is believed that the imaging software used in Sony’s Cybershot camera will be used in the handset.
Details about the Android version are still not revealed. However, it is expected that the handset will feature Android Jelly Bean and possibly Android 4.3. There is no doubt about the fact that this handset from Sony will catch the attention of most buyers and selling point for this device is certainly the camera. The pricing details of the new device are not yet revealed.
Sony has officially unveiled its flagship Smartphones Xperia Z and Xperia ZL in India, at a press event yesterday.
Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL are available for at a price of $713.05 and 658.18 respectively. The devices are available on pre-order online from flipkart and on Sony retail stores from 12th March 2013.
The major difference between Xperia Z and ZL is that only Xperia Z is water and dust-resistant while other features remain almost same.
Sony has also announced that Xperia Z comes with 8GB free data from Vodafone that is valid for 2 months, free 6-month access to Sony Jive music and video streaming applications.
Sony Xperia ZL is now available for sale in Russia too on Sony’s online store at a price of $895.07.

Japanese Electronics giant Sony Electronics has introduced its latest Smartphone Xperia Z at CES.
The device boasts a 5-inch Full HD screen display with 1080×1920 pixel resolution. It is driven by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage, along with a microSD to support memory up to 32GB. It has 13MP rear camera for HD video recording and 2.2 MP front-facing camera. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as it connectivity options and runs Jelly Bean OS.
Other features include a 2330 mAh battery which is powerful compared to Samsung Galaxy S3s 2100mAh battery. The device measures 139x71x7.9mm. It is water proof and has a scratch resistant glass. It supports PlayStation Mobile.
Sony Xperia Z is expected to release in Europe in the month of February. The pricing details and release date in the U.S. are yet to be released.

Sony has created a brand image of its own by offering a variety of Smartphones into the market. The Japanese giant is rumored of launching Xperia Odin and it is revealed by the recent tech rumors and image leaks.
According to the Slash Gear, the upcoming Smartphone from Sony with code name Odin is going to be launched as Xperia X by the end of February 2013. Rumors say that the Smartphone could be launched either at Consumer Electronics Show in this month or at Mobile World Congress in February 2013.
It is also rumored that the Sony Xperia X could feature a 5 inch 1080p resolution display. It is powered by 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC processor. It runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Operating System and sports a 13MP HD rear camera for capturing high quality images.
As of now, there is no word officially about its features and price.
Sony has announced its latest budget Android Smartphone Xperia E on 5th December 2012. It comes with a tag line as No Nonsense Android Smartphone. The device is available in both Single and Dual SIM models as Xperia E and Xperia E Dual respectively. It will be launched in the first quarter of 2013. Although the pricing details are yet to be announced the device is expected to be a mid-range Smartphone.
The company says that customers entering into the world of Smartphones would be advised to look at Xperia E or Xperia E Dual as they are ideal for those looking for affordable access to the quality and functionality associated with high-end Android Smartphones.
The common features of Xperia include a 3.5-inch HVGA display with 320 x 480 pixels screen resolution. It is powered by a single core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor and 512MB of RAM. It has 4GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The Smartphone has a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and VGA video quality. The 1530 mAh removable battery can provide up to 6.3 hours of talk time, 30 hours of music listening or up to 530 hours on stand-by time. It measures 113.5 x 61.8 x11 mm and weighs 115 grams.
The other features of the device comprise a wireless DLNA connectivity and xLOUD 3D surround sound technology for a Walkman music experience. It is enabled with HD voice quality that filters background noise and gives clear voice during conversation. The device gets disconnected from Wi-Fi and data traffic when the screen is in sleep mode for few minutes in order to save power.
The Xperia E runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean whereas the Xperia E dual comes pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich that is upgradable to Android 4.1. Another difference is that Xperia E is available in black, white and pink colours while Xperia E Dual is available only in black and gold colours.
